Gabrielle Hecht

Gabrielle Hecht (Stanford University) is a historian of science and technopolitics, focusing on energy, waste, and environmental justice. She is the author of Being Nuclear and Residual Governance, which explores how mining residues and infrastructural violence shape planetary futures. Hecht leads Inside-Out Earth, a collaborative project on energy remains and the politics of toxicity. Her work combines historical and ethnographic inquiry to examine how people confront environmental harm and imagine alternatives amid the detritus of extractive and imperial histories.
