Are you [mis]suiting?
In cooperation with AMFI and the HvA
This year, the Amsterdam Fashion Institute’s annual magazine Garment is all about celebrating [mis]suiting in a world of conformity. This evening at SPUI25, we embrace the battle of the opposites with Garment's playful, thought-provoking and offbeat content.
It would be hypocritical to celebrate individuality if it’s only from one point of view. And since the tone of voice of Garment’s [mis]suit issue is like having a passionate after-dinner-conversation with your witty, but always informed fashion-insider-friend, we would like to take this communication style into reality.
Yes, that’s right. The magazine will come to life in the form of interesting guest speakers from the industry. Together with them, you can share your thoughts on fashion’s playground of contradictions in an informal and cheeky manner. See you there?
About the speakers
Sofie van der Meulen: Sofie was born with a genetic defect that affects her physical growth. As a result of this, she has experienced the fashion system in a way we can hardly imagine. In a conversation with Garment she’ll share her perspective on inclusive fashion and give insight into her relationship with the industry.
Nena van Veen: 6 months ago Nena chose to replace fashion with hardware. She left her former job at the fashion bible, otherwise known as Vogue, for a place in multinational technology magnate Samsung. What does the tech world offer that suits her better than fashion?
Georgette Koning: This fashion reporter, who has worked for several big commercial names in print, chose to start her own independent beauty magazine. Georgette Koning is a master in her craft and will share her vision on print in the digital age and the differences between commercial and independent publishing.
